Else, you can create a new ACADDOC.lsp file by opening a new Notepad document (or other plain text editor) and saving it as ACADDOC.lsp in an AutoCAD Support Path (ensuring the Save As Type panel is once again set to All Files). How to Run an AutoLISP Program Saving the AutoLISP File. Before we can run any programs we must make sure that the program file (.lsp file in this case) resides on the system. If you are downloading programs from my site, the method of saving the AutoLISP file may depend on the browser you are using. After installing the XREF Load Status APP, it should appear under the “Plugins” tab of the ribbon. Click to start. Note that you should launch the app from another drawing or in a blank drawing. Hey ASMI or any other experts, I'm running into problems with dwgs having nested xref when I use this code shown above. As you might know you can't detach nested xref, and the only way I know how to bind this dwg is to reload the nested xref and freeze all the layers in the nested xref.

Close the floor plan. • In a second drawing, type XREF. Right-click in the empty area of the panel to reference (“Attach”) the floor plan drawing into the model space of the plot sheet. • In the layout space of the plot sheet, create a scaled viewport through which you can see the floor plan.

The Plot dialog box reveals additional settings. • In the Printer/Plotter section, select a printer from the Name drop-down list. If in doubt, the Default Windows System Printer usually works. • In the Paper Size section, use the drop-down list to select a paper size that’s loaded in the printer or plotter. Anything Letter size (81/2 x 11 inches) [A4 (210 x 297mm)] or larger works for this example. • In the Plot Area section, select Limits from the What to Plot drop-down list.
In the image below I have highlighted what can be stripped out. An empty line is equivalent to you pressing ‘Return’ on your keyboard, so leave those empty lines in! Watch out for character wrapping inherited from the AutoCAD text window. Make sure all the text for each step is on the same line.

Does it help? If not try 'wblock' the whole dwg to a new one; re-xref in dwg; then bind. Sorry for the delay. I have been working around this - the files are decendants of ADT - The End! And until I get 2007, the issue will bug me for the entire project - which I am smug to say, that after fighting tooth and nail with my 'AutoCAD illiterate, refuses to learn anything new for fear of his brain exploding' line manager, I submitted to 'dumbing down' my drawings much to the fury of the director the following day!!!!!! He will join us or die. Never underestimate the power of the force.
Thought XNOTIFYTIME might have worked but I don't know how to use it as typing it in the command line in AutoCad doesn't work. Also tried (setenv 'XNOTIFYTIME' '#') but typing that in the command line doesn't work either. Dec 5, 2012 I have a drawing (let's call it 'main.dwg') with an external reference (let's call it 'file.dwg') as the bulk of its content. The drawing 'main.dwg' has 16 layout tabs, each with several mview windows. Needing to make some changes to 'main.dwg' for the first time in a couple months, I just opened it and was having issues with freezing out layers in the mview windows. It turns out that 'file.dwg' appears twice in the xref list under two different names (let's say 'File 1' and 'File 2') with the same target path. Besides the disorganization created by the double xref, it makes freezing layers in the mview windows twice as complicated, since each layer now appears twice in the layers list.
Once everything is attached I save my work close it out and move to another area, when I open up the model I was working on before with all the attachments that I had located, the xrefs are no longer attached and I must redo all the work that was done previously. May 24, 2013 I received a dwg plan in xref and the client whats me to make some changest to the plan what would be the best method of doing this?
Performance Initiative For this release, Autodesk invested the software engineering resources equivalent to a new AutoCAD feature dedicated to improving software performance. Additional work continues to improve 2D and 3D graphics performance. Performance gains vary significantly depending on your system resources and the size and content of the drawing. For example, here are some typical results in one of our test drawings that included a number of attached images. The time required for commands that changed the color, layer, or linetype properties in the drawing was reduced from around 4 seconds to around 0.6 seconds, QSAVE in that same drawing was reduced from 1.4 seconds to around 0.5 seconds, and a REGEN was reduced from about 0.7 seconds to 0.1 seconds.
This seems to have been done and wasn't sure why? Feb 15, 2012 i open a cad file with an XREF inside, then an error appear indicating that 1 file is still unloaded. I locate the location of that xref file then load the file, after that i click reload all references but still the xref file appear unloaded. Sep 16, 2012 I have an xref that I am trying to xclip. Normal xclip works fine, but when I try to invert the clip (which I was I need), a light grey background shows up (in preview mode and on prints) around most of the boundary, and takes up most of the screen. It also clips objects from other xrefs along the plane of the boundary, even though they're not actually within the boundary (they are visible in the drawing, but clipped in preview mode).

It locates the references that use a specific folder path and replaces them with a new one you browse to. This is nice if you move a base file to a new folder and want to tell your drawing to stop looking over there and start looking over here. Figure 2: Right-click a referenced file and use the new Find and Replace or Select New Path tools to repair broken links It’s the Little Things That Help Changing the Path Type is easy enough—just right-click the file in the manager, select Change Path Type, and select the file path type you want to use. AutoCAD 2018 will now gray out the current file path type, keeping you from accidently picking the current type and having to start over again. It’s not a huge change, but it is something that should be there. Figure 3: The current file path type of the referenced drawing is unclickable when trying to change it Many times, a reference file will have other files refenced into it and you get to deal with them. Aren’t you lucky?
