The stationery styling works in the same way that HTML email signatures work, using the markup language to stylize and customize the email. If stationery is a little too flashy for your needs, you can choose a more subtle approach by putting images into an email signature sent from Mac Mail or by setting a general HTML signature for Mac Mail too, which basically offer simpler styling options. When Apple launched Mac OS X, Leopard, Mail included a feature called Stationery. Stationery is HTML-designed email templates that let you dress up the visual appearance of your email. For example, you can send emails with background pictures, emails shaped like announcements, and even emails. Using Designs for Mail is a cinch: Just download the application and open it to view the templates. Click on a specific design to open it in Apple’s Mail or select all designs and click Save Stationery to access them in Mail’s stationery chooser. There is no way to modify the existing stationery. You can create your own though. When you are creating an e-mail go to the file menu and click on 'save as stationery'. I should probably give this fewer stars, but I did get the stationery I wanted and it does look good. I will continue using the app, even with the hoops I had to jump through. I like it I noted a slew of bad reviews, all for version 2.2.1, but now available is version 4.2.1, and this looks like just what I was looking for. The app itself is free, and provides a portal to examine a large collection of stationery for use with Apple Mail. You can purchase only what you plan to use at 99 cents each, or you can buy the entire collection (evidently) for $4.99, both reasonable prices, IMHO.

Obviously the file named top.jpg is the “masthead” of the template where you can place a logo, photo or whatever you wish. As you can see in the image above, I created a completely new “top.jpg” file to replace the Sand Dollar and paper background. Keep the background simple unless you really know what you’re doing. What happens when Apple Mail stationery is removed from macOS 10.14? Unless you take the steps outlined below, you will lose access to Apple Mail stationery once you upgrade your Mac to macOS 10.14. This means that when you view your message in Direct Mail, it may appear to be missing images (including background images). Apple’s Mail app will no longer allow users to compose messages using stationery. Apple Mail users will still be able to receive and read email that was sent using stationery.

Select 'Hue/Saturation' in the menu 'Image -> Adjustments.' To get a nice Pink, I dragged the Hue setting all the way to -180 and raised the Lightness about 10. You're welcome to tweek these numbers if you don't like the pink I used. Remember these numbers! They will have to be repeated in every file.

Close each of the graphic images being careful to select Don't Save for each instance. Now our resource folder has expanded to 36 files. Don't bother renaming the original graphics files. As long as the name is unique from the other two colors, they'll be fine. Now that all of our graphics are together, we need to make a tiny adjustment to the content.html file.
